Some problems are known in the meantime during installation of Bitrate Viewer 1.0 - so for explanation of the files you can download on the Bitrate Viewer homepage:
Please use a normal left click with your mouse to download any of those files. Save the files to your local disk at any appropriate location. When you're done, execute the selected file with a double click. Don't execute the downloaded file immediately out of your browsers download status window. In many cases you will receive errors caused by the Windows internal security checker ... especially when you're using Windows Vista or Windows XP SP3 in combination with MS Internet Explorer.
1.) The BitrateViewerSetup.exe is a complete packed installer that contains the application and all shared system DLL's needed. It also has CRC checking enabled so that you can see if your file downloaded is corrupt. The mechanism used within the installer which is created with HM NIS Edit 2.0.3 (a NSIS script installation builder) may not run with Windows Vista ... it is not yet known if installation problems on Vista are caused by the installer itself.
2.) If 1.) fails for any reason you can try as an alternative to download the other two ZIP files BitrateViewer-1.0.zip and BR-syslibs.zip, save them to local disk and unpack the first one into your application directory (which defaults to "C:\Program Files" if you have English language settings in your OS) and you'll get a "C:\Program Files\BitrateViewer" directory afterwards. Then you unpack the second ZIP file into your Windows system directory (which defaults to "C:\WINDOWS\system32"). For Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 this is all, you're done with this. For Windows Vista: I don't know if the last step will also work here because Vista uses a different system library storage. Normally it should work because Bitrate Viewer is build with the first release compiler for Microsoft .NET Framework of 2002 Service Pack 1. This one doesn't require specific procedures on system library storage.
3.) If you are going with step 2.) you can skip downloading and installing the BR-syslibs.zip if and only if the files contained in there are already installed on your system. Now these files are the following redistributable MS DLL files (English-USA):

If you have newer version they won't get overwritten. If you don't have them, no problem, they will get installed for the first time. If yours are older they'll get overwritten. In this case it could be a problem if your DLL versions were *NOT* English-USA.
